The plot of the short and politicaly very actual satiric novel Bulbul and His Boss (Bulbul es-seyyid) by Hassan Blasim (Ḥasan Blāsim, Bagdad 1973), which was published on web some months ago and so far has been translated to Serbian language only is devided in seven chapters, or tales, that represent phases in the life of the main character: 1- Bulbul and His Boss; 2- Bulbul and His Thinkings; 3- Bulbul and His Dron; 4- Bulbul and Killed Heroes; 5- Bulbul and His Tuk-tuk; 6- Bulbul and the Corona; 7- Bulbul becomes a Writer. In the centre of all these events is a young man with the nickname Bulbul (= nightingale), who, being an orphan, joined, with the help of his uncle, the militia of а powerful clerical politician. The novel was written from the first to the last letter in the spoken Iraqi dialect, which is the first such case in Iraqi author’s literature. The Serbian translation contains light admixtures of spoken language and – neccessarily – some obscene vocabulary, and in addition to footnotes to the text, it is equipped with a short afterword that is limited to basic information about the author and gives a brief original review of the novel itself.
